Other than a few recalls, our CX-5 has been completely flawless in 17,000km.

No problems at all since AC condenser. There was a recall for the gas struts for the rear hatch, but they had not been a problem before the recall.

They look nice, ride nice, but if you get a bad one (and it seems about every 30th vehicle that comes off the assembly line) you will have nothing but issues with it.
I have a 2017 and it's been into the dealership for all types of issues after the first week and it only has 4000 Kms. It's getting to the point that I'm seeking assistance from an Ontario Motor Vehicle group called CAMVAP to declare my particular vehicle a LEMON.
From transmission to tires to safety features that don't work. My CX-5 AWD GT Tech is a nightmare.

2016 Mazda CX-5, AWD, loaded. Have had zero problems with this car except for a airbag recall (fixed) and now rear hatch struts (not fixed yet). Nice riding, quite, nice MPG. Great car so far with 12K miles.

You should be able to get a good deal on a used Mazda as their retention rate is very low.
"...the percentage of former owners who buy another Mazda ? was 30%, embarrassingly low. That has increased to 38%..."
