2008 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4

seats in rear are tight, they do not slide or recline where as Honda CRV rear seats are much more flexible for kids and families. My crv is 2007 and the rear seats recline and the entire bench can slide front and back to create instant leg room see full Mazda CX-7 review

Tested CX-7s with both cloth and leather seats. Both materials thin and not supportive. Cloth seats lumpy with uneven feeling surface. see full Mazda CX-7 review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

2007 Mazda CX-7 Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Although there is a pretty bad turbo lag, once the turbo spindle winds up there is plenty of power for that size of vehicle. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2008 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
260 HP is more then you need for every day drive. those extra HPs give you possiblity to have fun driving CX-7 as well. A little bit slow when starting, but excellent when accelerating on highway. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The turbo engine is the same from the Mazdaspeed 6, and it hauls. It seriously has no business being in a crossover. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
spirited engine with a great 6 speed trans. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4

For the size of vehicle it was very quick and responsive. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Having had two Saabs previously I was interested in the 2.3L turbo engine. Especially when it was mentioned in some reviews that it was tuned for more torque. The way this drives at speed reminds me of the Saabs and makes for effortless highway driving. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Surprisingly for a 4 cylinder, there is power and acceleration when you need it, and then some. The 6 speed makes for a fun driving experience. Quick and responsive pretty much describes it. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Turbo engine. 244 hp. Modifications easy and boost power and responsiveness. Good torque from 2300 rpm up. Nice turbo kick at 2300 rpm. Tranny auto shifts at 6,000 rpm at WOT see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4

2007 Mazda CX-7 Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
good size engine but poor engine management computer as turbo lags when push hard. premature wear of belts, pulleys, fuel injection and seals in engine, Turbo requires maintenance and oil is burnt to a crisp in the engine due to design flaws that Mazda is aware of. Poor engine design for the turbo engine. Car is no longer produced in the USA. see full Mazda CX-7 review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 244hp 2.3L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Turbo lag; before turbo kicks in the vehicle feels underpowered. Sufficient power once the turbo is engaged. see full Mazda CX-7 review
