Why the 2003 Mazda Miata MX-5?

Handling

Very nimble but still steady; on the limit it is very predictible and slightly understeers. Great road feel, the driver knows exactly the state of tires and suspension at all times. Great autocross machine!

Exterior styling

Smooth curves, sexy all around.

Safety & braking

Stops in short distances, stays very straight in panic stops. The brakes can stand a lot of abuse and are very durable (no rotor warping, good longevity of pads and discs)

Powertrain performance

Civil under 4000 rpm. Gets lively over that, but never brutal. Clearly NOT a drag racing machine, but does move the little car fast. Manual transmission is known for hard 2nd gear shifts when driving sedately, but is precise and smooth elsewhere.

Why Not the 2003 Mazda Miata MX-5?

Price or payments

Very pricey in Canada (30k for a stripper), dealers do not want to deal.
