Why the 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Handling

Seems to turn on a pivot. Steering responds impeccably and intuitively to driver input. no surprises. Incredibly similar to Boxster in handling dynamics for half the price or less (though it does feel less weighty & powerful). VERY fun on winding roads.

Powertrain performance

Not the most powerful engine. But very adequate and amazingly reliable. Very responsive throttle; never any hesitation. (Does rev very high.) Optional 6spd manual = very precise shifts. High revs between shifts = very quick/fun thrust. Nice exhaust note.

Exterior styling

MX-5 = improved over earlier versions. Larger and more aggressive. Still evokes classic English soft-top 2 seaters.

Reliability & durability

Flawless/bullet-proof drivetrain. Few gizmos and needless luxuries = fewer things to break. No need for repairs in 32k miles.

Materials & workmanship

Good fit/finish and paint. Impeccalbe craftsmanship = remarkable at this price-point. Leather package with Grand Touring version is of noteworthy quality (and a recommended improvement over base cloth). Interior controls are well-designed.
