It came out more than 5k higher than the Elantra, cash purchase price. (My wife and I always pay cash).

Driving position & visibility

Overly large B/C pillars, especially for shorter drivers.

Dealer practices

Dealership refused to negotiate on cash sale. Mazda3 was popular, so they probably thought that another buyer would be coming through soon enough.
