My wife is concerned with repairs and maintance cost

I am looking at a getting a used 2011 GL550 (104000 Km). Some people say that they are really expensive to maintain. Not sure what that means. I know if I go to the dealership their shop rate is $169.00 (CAD) an hour and even a simple oil change will be $200.00. However I have read some people suggest they are great vehcles for comfort and performance and to deal with maintance by finding someone other than the dealership to do repairs (fortunately I have someone). Any thoughts?
