Introduction

We've had ours for 3 years and 50k miles and love it.

Why the 2010 Mercedes-Benz R-Class?

Exterior styling

I like it, but it is a matter of taste.

Powertrain performance

The BLUTEC diesel and transmission are pretty much bulletproof. The only issue I had was the fuel pump dying during a day of 100+F temperatures.

Fuel economy

Excellent. We average 27 on the highway travelling at 70+mph

Handling

Not a sports car, but excellent for a vehicle weighing this much.

Safety & braking

Excellent

Why Not the 2010 Mercedes-Benz R-Class?

Driving position & visibility

The A pillars can interfere with the driver's vision. My wife complains about this frequently. Rear visibility is also limited, though the reverse camera helps a lot.

Audio & nav systems

I am not a fan of the nav system. I don't like the default screen color palette. Also, the map view defaults to a small map with another window listing upcoming exits. I wish I could turn this off.

Interior storage compartments

I don't like the rear seat cupholder. It is plastic and flimsy and I'm sure the kids are going to break it before long.

Conclusion

I would buy this vehicle again.
