2014 Nissan Altima Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
Year | Comment | |
2013 | I'm already stuck. In just about every other way aside from fuel economy the Altima is a good, even very good car, yet an unremarkable one. Either this, or a strength must be qualified with a "but." The latter is the case with the front seats. Inspired by the "zero gravity" seats designed by NASA for ultra-long-distance travel, the Altima's buckets feel substantial and fit like a glove. BUT...also check the reasons not to buy an Altima. Move to the back seat, and Nissan's midsize sedan has a clearer advantage. The comfortably padded rear seat cushions in both the Altima and the Fushion provide good thigh support--those in many competitors do not. The Altima's rear seat isn't quite the roomiest, but it is roomier than the Fusion's. see full Nissan Altima review |

The NASA-inspired driver's seat is very comfortable and supportive, BUT its headrest juts so far forward that I had to remove it and reinsert it turned around. This severely compromises safety, but otherwise the headrest presses very uncomfortably against the back of my head. For this reason I doubt I could own an Altima. The average person, with a less vertical neck, won't have this problem. Just be sure to pay attention to this during your test drive. see full Nissan Altima review |

I bought this car because of the front seat leg room. I'm 6' 5" tall with a 36" inseam. This is the first car I've ever owned that I fit in perfectly. The cloth bucket seats are very comfortable. Every control is in easy reach even though I have the seat as far back as it can go. The tilt and telescoping steering wheel is great. This is the first mid size sedan since I've owned. It has more interior room than a 1999 Buick LeSabre I owned 10 years ago. see full Nissan Altima review |

Huge back seat for a sedan (legroom) and even three abreast is not that terrible. Big guys did not complain. see full Nissan Altima review |

The seats are very comfortable, I would have been happy if both the driver and passenger were electronic. The lumbar support is fantastic and the driver seats is 8-way adjustable. For tall people this car will be a great ride. see full Nissan Altima review |

Kids in the back seat love the limoesque space. I do enjoy anchor locks and the well placed seat belts. There is definitely some intelligent design and practice into everything and anything in this car. see full Nissan Altima review |
2013 Buick Verano Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
Year | Comment | |
2013 | The Buick Verano's impression of substance and solidity extends to its seats. The front buckets are larger and more thickly padded than those in the typical compact sedan, yet have a firm, properly supportive underlying structure. They look and feel "premium." The Acura ILX's front seats, with more prominent side bolsters, provide better lateral support in hard turns, but don't feel as solid or as luxurious. see full Buick Verano review |

While the Buick Verano's exterior is large for a compact sedan, its rear seat is among the tightest. The ILX is a bit tighter still. In it I can just fit behind my 5-9 self. But anyone who requires an adult-friendly rear seat will likely reject both cars (along with the new Cadillac ATS). The Verano's 14.5 cubic foot trunk--two cubes over the ILX's--is more competitive, and more in line with Buick's traditional strengths. see full Buick Verano review |

I am 6'1", broad shouldered, overweight, and considered quite a big guy, but I have no trouble fitting into the car. Even if you are a couple of inches higher than me, you should be okay. Be advised I chose a car without a sunroof. The sunroof may cut into that headroom. see full Buick Verano review |

If you're tall, prepare for cramping if you have anyone needing to sit behind you. I cannot explain the lack of room here. With my seat in my long range riding position (as far back as I can go with my feet still reaching the pedals) there is 1 and a half inches between the edge of the back seat and the kneeboard on the back of the drivers seat. There is no human capable of putting their leg behind that. see full Buick Verano review |

No rear seat venting except the floor makes it a bit stuffy for the rear seat passengers. The rear seating area is tight to get into but once seated provide enough space. see full Buick Verano review |

My right knee(with shorts on) hits the hard plastic to discomfort. I thought about putting some padding there. Same with the lack of padding inside the map pocket on the door to keep contents from rattleing. see full Buick Verano review |
