Why the 2002 Saab 9-3?

Feature availability

This car can be had, fully loaded at a very reasonable price. Ther are some Saab-specific features (night panel, Saab Information Display and others) that help it stand out. Many desired features come standrd on the SE trim level.

Materials & workmanship

Even at 8 years old, there are no rattles and very few squeaks. The car has held up well and reflects very good build quality.

Safety & braking

Like another well known Swedish auto maker, Saab takes safety very seriously. It has all the safety features one should expect (front and side airbags, four wheel disk w/ABS, traction control, etc.). Anchors for LATCH upper tethers do not use trunk space.

Powertrain performance

The 2.0 HOT produces ample power for a car this size. I never worry about running out of available power when overtaking highway traffic. Turbo lag is present, but very liveable.

Price or payments

Thanks to fast depreciation, they are a steal on the used car market.

Why Not the 2002 Saab 9-3?

Audio & nav systems

Audio sound quality is fine (not earth shattering) with the six speaker system. The radio lacks some modern features (aux input, RDS) and the speed sensative volume is inadequate.
