2006 4dr SUV turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
This is honesty the only complaint i have about the 2006 XT. The rear seat is a bit tight. We took three other adults on about a 4 hour trip and it was a tight fit - good thing we're good friends! My wife's 2009 Forester is much better in the rear legroom department. see full Subaru Forester review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2007 Subaru Forester

2007 Subaru Forester Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr SUV 173-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
Its performance feels responsive and zippy - it has lots of get-up and go for a 4-cylinder. see full Subaru Forester review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 224hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
It has VERY strong acceleration in 2nd thru 4th gears (20-70mph). First gear runs out of rpm quickly. I can easily outrun many "sporty" cars and then pull off-road and not get stuck in mud or snow. see full Subaru Forester review
2007 4dr SUV 173-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
Smooth, more than adequate power, good shift points on AT, decent mileage for AWD. see full Subaru Forester review
2006 4dr SUV 173-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
Power when needed. The symetrical drivetrain is a must for consumers in areas where snow is a problem. see full Subaru Forester review
2006 4dr SUV turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
The turbo 2.5L engine mated to 5 speed gearbox is very fun to drive. Power comes on strong around 3,000 RPM. 1st and 2nd gear are a riot. The first time I really ripped into 1st and 2nd was on an on ramp to the Hudson Parkway along Manhattan's west side. It was right after the freaky Halloween snow storm of 2011, and there was still slush and snow on the ground. This was a used car with tires needing replacement, and even still, it put so much power to ground that I hit redline at 1st and 2nd before I even realized it. That is the amazingness of Subaru AWD and a TD04 configuration. I love driving this combo. see full Subaru Forester review
2007 Subaru Forester Powertrain: Cons

Underpowered wen loaded and attempting to negotiate highways. see full Subaru Forester review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Tires of the 2007 Subaru Forester

2007 Subaru Forester Tires: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2006 4dr SUV turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
The stock tires and wheels on this car are not appropriately suited to its sportiness. The ideal, daily-driveable combination is 17" wheels with 225 55R17s or 225 50R17s. The stock alloys are 16" and the tires are Yokohama Geolanders that just squeal all over the place and aren't all that in the rain/wet anyways. see full Subaru Forester review
