Problems ?

I bought a loaded 2015 Outback in April '15. It has 23000 miles on it without a problem. Two recalls: EyeSight and electronic parking brake. While I never had an issue with either, it was repaired under warranty. I do 5,000 mile oil changes. Everything else is original. Power is excellent, brakes excellent, handling excellent. (Note: previous comparative vehicles include an MDX, Pilot, and CRV.) Highly recommend. I'd like a little more room though, so I don't know what the next vehicle will be...........good luck shopping.

My 2014 w 40k has been in the shop for a blown tranny since before memorial day. Fixed under PT warranty but won't let my wife or kid drive it again.

I bought a 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited in April, 2016. I have a little over 1,000 miles on it. I was subject to that steering column recall in late April, which didn't make me happy, but I was without the Subaru for only 5 days. And I guess Subaru was doing the right thing, handling the situation properly rather than ignoring it.

This is the best car I have ever owned, and I love it. It is very comfortable, like a luxury car. I am getting very good gas mileage. However, I am still learning all the bells and whistles. I don't think I will extend my trial of XMSirius when it expires, since I don't care to pay a monthly fee to listen to the radio; I can listen to my music on my iPhone. And some of the other entertainment features don't really appeal to me, since I feel they can be distracting to the driver.

That's my opinion of my new 2016 Outback 2.5 Limited.

Bought our 2.5 limited in November and it has not rested since. Wife drove to Charleston SC first month then daily to and from work until the spring. She just got back from another trip to the Gulf shore of Florida and we will be leaving for Charleston again soon. To date just under 9000 miles and averaging 25~28 mpg. We do have a recall for software related to the MySubaru app but did was not part of the steering wheel recall. Would I do it again.....Yes We have owned BMWs, Volvos, Toyotas, Nissans, and numerous Hondas, I currently would put Subaru ahead of all of these. That said, looking to replace my BMW 328D with a WRX or maybe a 3.6r Outback later end of this year.

I bought a 2015 OB Limited in Sept of 2014. No problems, but I traded it in with 9000 miles (using Subaru's guaranteed trade-in program) for a 2016 OB Limited with Eyesight which I really like. I now have two 2016 OB's with Eyesight. One for me and one for my wife. No regrets and no problems. Great vehicles.

Just picked up a '16 Outback, 1,500 miles now. Quite an improvement in handling over our '14. Large backup camera and the Sirius radio has replay, our two favorite new features.

The '14 was perfect in reliability in ~50,000 miles.

The '16 was recalled for the steering column defect the week we picked it up. The dealer towed it in and acquired a rental for us for the week it required to get parts and install them. Amazing service.

Prior to those two OB's we had an '11 Legacy. Same platform as the OB, 80,000 miles, zero issues.

So far the only issue with a 2015 is it was out of alignment ant it wore a tire before I caught it. The factory tires are nothing compared to the replacement tires so the car rides much more luxurious. Major improvement. Very comfortable car.

13k miles only regret was hitting a wild turkey at 50mph the 1st month of ownership which busted up the front a bit but luckily did not set off airbags.

Comfortable and quiet ride. Great gas mileage.

2015 Outback 3.6R Limited with Eyesight. bought May 2015 now in July 2016 have 22,000 miles on it. Great car. Great MPG for a 6 cyl. luxurious and very good offroad. Love it! No problems.

If you don't mind sharing the story, it'd be nice to hear. Transmission problems often start with a "fault" warning sign showing up. What happened? It was out of warranty? What did Subaru do about it? Finally, it's fixed but you won't let your wife or kid drive it? So you're not satisfied with the "fix?" Don't wanna put you on the spot, but it'd be nice to know the rest of the story. TIA.

No "rest of the story." No symptoms, no faults, no codes. It was fixed under power train warranty. If you are cool with having your wife or kids drive it come make me an offer. All the regular maintenance. Mechanical. Part. Failed.

Often people make up scenarios ("hmmm, there must be a 'rest of the story'") up as a defense mechanism to say "it could never happen to me."

Sorry if you were offended. My questions weren't meant to be offensive, but asking for information. I had a MDX where the transmission started to go south (later on long afterwards a known issue) just out of warranty - brought it in to the dealer to check the warning light. Sold it immediatley (bought a Pilot.)

But you didn't really respond to the questions I asked, innocuous as I thought they were. Please, feel free not to respond if you don't care to. I'm only asking for info, not an explanation. There's no explanation necessary or required. And no I don't want your used car (or anyone else's used car,) I'm (so far) very happy with my '15 Outback. Thanks.

At stop light Light turned green. Stepped on gas. No Drive or Reverse. Brought to dealer. Fixed under power train warranty.

Thank you! Sorry for your issues. I was 2 1/2 hours from home when I got an engine fault light with my MDX. Three days later had my Honda dealer run it and tell me it was the transmission. Out of warranty, I saw a 4K bill and said no way. About 2 years later (as I recall) I saw some type of class action lawsuit or some such regarding this issue. Wow. Not happy. My MDX was perfect for me and I would have driven it for 10 years or 150,000 if it hadn't been for this issue. Again, thanks for the info and I'll pray my Outback doesn't have these types of issues.....
