What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara

2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2006 4dr SUV 185-horsepower 2.7L V6
5-speed automatic AWD w/low range
I know when we bought the SUV, many reviewer's said it was under powered. The 2.7 V6 works well with the 5sp. automatic all wheel drive full time. The same SUV now can only be bought with a 4cyl. Now that is under powered. We never had any major repair or overly costly repair. The only thing that has been a repeat problem, is the transfer case seals have replace twice. The transfer case itself has been rebuilt once. see full Suzuki Grand Vitara review

2007 4dr SUV 140-horsepower 2.0L I4

Lacks power going uphill or when towing. see full Suzuki Grand Vitara review
2006 4dr SUV 185-horsepower 2.7L V6
5-speed automatic AWD w/low range
Automatic transmision will down shift on even the smallest hill and not shift up. At times the revs will be just below red line and it will not upshift. This will damage the motor over time. Suzuki will NOT REPAIR OR REPROGRAM - Go for the 5 speed see full Suzuki Grand Vitara review
2006 4dr SUV 185-horsepower 2.7L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
The small six seems to be a bit under powered for the size of the vehicle. There are more shifts and down shifts than one would like to have on a vehicle. It is noteworthy that Suzuki upgraded to a 3.3 V6 the following year. see full Suzuki Grand Vitara review
