Why the 2004 Toyota Prius?

Reliability & durability

Excellent reliability in that there are few repairs needed beyond simple maintenance.

Fuel economy

5l/100km average- should get better in warmer weather.

Safety & braking

I like the regenerative braking (minimize brake wear) and the multiple air bags and traction control make this vehicle quite safe.

Feature availability

Lots of little features (interior storage spaces) extra 12V plug, steering wheel controls, etc.

Front seat room

This car is very roomy inside.

Why Not the 2004 Toyota Prius?

Price or payments

In Canada, there is definitely a price premium for the Prius - which is unfortunate, since it is a great car.

Driving position & visibility

It is impossible to see where the front of the car ends, and the view out of the hatchback is somewhat limited.

Powertrain performance

It is a mid-size car, but the performance is more akin to an econobox - which is fine for me, but may be a problem for others.

Handling

The traction control sometimes makes it hard to quickly accelerate - which is a problem merging into fast traffic or similar situations.
