Brake Caliper Carrier Klunk Noise

Ask the People Who Own One:

I have been complaining to my dealer at each service interval of a klunking noise when driving over bumpy roads. After three inspections they came up with brake caliper carrier needs to be replaced which would cost $800.00 for carriers and brake pads. It seems that the carrier has worn were the guide hole has been elongated causing the rattle/klunk. I am wondering if the existing carriers could be bushed and there by eliminating the rattle/klunk?

I recall reading on some VW forum that the rear clunking, which mine does too, could also be related to the rear suspension needing tightening with particular attention paid to the anti-roll bar bushings.

Thanks for the info. It appears that my rattle is from the caliper carrier which they demonstrated to me on thier lift.
