Why the 2007 Volkswagen GTI?

Powertrain performance

-Very easily used powerband -Engine loves to rev -DSG transmission is wicked fast

Handling

-Very predictable at limits -Feels lighter than it is -Very tossable

Controls and instruments

Everything is close to the driver. I never find myself reaching for any controls or pushing the wrong buttons.

Cargo capacity

Is capable of hauling far more, and larger things than it looks like from the outside. Also seats 4 large adults comfortably (5 less so, but still manageable)

Front seat support & comfort

Excellent seats and comfort, however occasionally find the seats a bit narrow and the foot well can be tight in some shoes.

Why Not the 2007 Volkswagen GTI?

Fuel economy

In highly mixed driving (aggressive, city, relaxed, highway) I only manage 20 mpg on a good day. More often than not I only can get 18.

Reliability & durability

In a year of ownership I have had far more dealership experiences than I care to remember. Lots of check engine lights, parts acting funny, and several parts that have questionable long-term durability.
