Why the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Safety & braking

The fact that it has the best safety ratings of any car in its class. It also has 12 airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, and ABS standard.

Feature availability

The fact that I have heated seats and mirrors, rear side airbags, satellite radio, a moonroof, a built-in alarm/immobilizer, power EVERYTHING, a 6-disc in-dash mp3/CD changer, stability/traction control, and folding rear seats.

Why Not the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Brand reputation & image

That people automatically assume that all VWs are unreliable just because they had problems with their cars in the late 90s/early 00s. The new Jetta and Rabbit are MUCH better than they used to be. The TDIs especially are very reliable.

Exterior styling

It looks too much like a Japanese car (especially the back end). The previous models were more distinctive.

Dealer practices

Their service departments are completely incompetent, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the TDIs. I would HIGHLY recommend joining tdiclub.com and finding a good independent VW mechanic (as I did from the beginning).
