Introduction

I should've kept my Focus. More dependable and better mpg.

Why the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Powertrain performance

Pros: The power is smooth. The AC works great. Easy to work on. Comfortable to drive and pleasing to be inside the car. Materials are well fitted.

Why Not the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Materials & workmanship

Door and window switches, radio buttons have all peeled. Paint on door handles has scratched off. Interior parts fit well. Door harness had to be repaired. I soldered in about an inch of extra wire and heat-shrink wrapped it.

Quietness

Not very quiet, but ok.

Reliability & durability

Fuel pump had to be replaced around 73k miles. Car felt sluggish after I bought it used. I had a bad feeling the pump was going to go. Luckily there was a dealer only 36 miles away in Billing, MT that JUST opened. I limped the car in. Wish I had my tools I could've done the repair in the parking lot. Lift the bottom of the back seat up and there it is.
