TrueDelta Reviews the Seat Room and Comfort of the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan

2014 Volkswagen Tiguan Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
YearComment
2014 Based on the specs, the Tiguan suffers from insufficient dimensions. It's 3.6 inches less lengthy than the Escape, and as a result has an inch less legroom. And the Ford falls near the bottom of the segment in this spec. In the real world, though, the Tiguan's rear seat feels roomier and more comfortable than the Escape's and in the ballpark with the class leaders. A relatively large seat bottom is high enough off the floor to provide adults with thigh support. The rear seat back is more comfortably shaped than the compact crossover norm, and reclines. One nit: hard plastic isn't the most comfortable surface for a rear armrest. see full Volkswagen Tiguan review

Wanted a fun to drive sporty vehicle, yet needed good interior space since I have two teenage girls. Bounced between cars & CUV's. Found the Tiguan & was sold. Love the size, the spunk, acceleration, AND fuel economy. Wasn't sure about the leatherette seats, but after 4 months have come to like them. Averaging about 24mpg w/ mostly city driving. Pure freeway at 75 mpg yields close to 30mpg in San Diego. see full Volkswagen Tiguan review

I have a pair of 2.0T engines, in the Tig and in a 2009 GTI. One is very powerful, and one is extremely powerful. 'Nuff said. Funny how dofferent the gearing is-- the GTI is high-strung, never dropping below 2,400 rpm at cruising speeds, even in sixth. The Tiguan plays it lazy, preferring diesel-like engine speeds. Some owners gripe about this, but it's easy to kick down to lower gears, especially in S mode. It's really hard to come up with a reason to ever need more hp, more displacement or more cylinders than the 2.0T offers. see full Volkswagen Tiguan review
