Why the 2013 Volvo C70?

Materials & workmanship

Nicely made. If you put this vehicle up on a lift you'll be impressed with the attention to detail evident where the average owner doesn't look. It's well enginneered. Especially impreaaed with the boron steel roof pillars and the rollover protection system. This has to be one of if not the safest convertible on the road.

Safety & braking

Best brakes I've ever seen. Miles ahead of the Chevrolets/Nissans/Fords/Dodges that I'm familiar with. Volvo adds a inertia sensor to the brake system that increases the brightness of the brake lights if/when you brake hard. Handles nicely without trying to be a race car. Not twitchy.

Front seat support & comfort

Great front seats, very comfortable. Minimal wind buffeting with the top down. Volvo offered an accessory wind blocker with this model but it's not necessary. Interior trim on the arm rests could be softer. My elbow gets sore resting on the hard plastic. I keep a small fleece pad in the car to solve this little issue.

Audio & nav systems

We own the Platinum edition, with the premium sound system. It's the best system I have ever heard in a car, hands down. The nav system is OK. The interface takes a little getting used to but it's OK.

Warranty, maintenance cost

We purchased this car with a bit over 5000 miles on it in early 2014. The Volvo certified pre owned program is said to be one of the beat warranties in the business. It is. Everythings covered for 7 years from date of original purchase and is transferable. Just have Volvo do the routine maintenance and have it documented. They threw in 3 years free service and roadside assistance as well. What's not to like. Volvo must have confidence in the car to offer this package.

Why Not the 2013 Volvo C70?

Dealer location

This is the only real issue I have with Volvo but it may not be an issue for you. We liked this car (rented one in 2011 for a week in California) but have only one Volvo dealer within 100 miles of our home. We ended up buying one out of state because our local dealer didn't have any inventory left.
