Introduction

Like most, we are multiple-kid and multiple-car family (something like 75% of North American house holds have >= two cars) so I have zero range anxiety. My kids far prefer the Smart over the Mercedes SUV, to the point where they complain about the start up smell of the gas car when I need to back it up so they can play basketball!

I ordered the red/black interior combination, which is striking and unusual, which is a good thing when you are buying a car that makes as much of a statement outside, as it does inside.
Leather seats are an option.

Conclusion

My particular electric car happens to be cheaper to purchase and run than anything I've ever owned before...

I save $30 per month in insurance over the previous car (Ford Taurus), and over $110 per month on gas. Total saving $140 per month.
My cars are driven for 10 years, so that is $16K over the life of the vehicle.
Even without subsidies, I am way ahead of the previous car this replaced!
