I was certainly unimpressed with my previous Audi A8. And even more unimpressed with the service department. Audi used to be known for terrible reliability, but had supposedly improved.
I suppose they did, but not enough.

Audis now seem to be reliable for between four and six years. Six years happens to be the limit of the CPO warranty. The 2007s are now nearly eight.

Whenever someone says they want a car to be reliable for 8+ years, I feel I have no choice but to recommend a Honda or Toyota, as much as I wish this were not the case.

i have a honda accord 2012 for 2+ years now . no problem not even a light bulp . i had a mercedes c class before that . in the first 2 years i had to go to the dealer 5 times for problems . in the 4th year the catalitick converter wend bad . first the left and 4 months later the right . then problems with the aircondition and the staboliser bar 2 times finaly in a rain storm water went it the engine and that was it . honda and honda again . i had a civic for 8 years that never had a problem and i had pay $13000 and the mercedes was $35000.

Typical early VW direct injection problem no doubt - have seen it on a 2006 Audi A3. Completely sludge filled camshaft area, totally carboned-up intake valves. Needs a complete cylinder head overhaul, $2K minimum. Then you have 15 to 20 thousand miles before you have to do it all over again.

Same thing happens to the direct-injected Lexus IS250, but not the port+direct injection IS350.

People need to read vehicle-specific car forums on the internet. Seriously, it should be your due diligence before buying any vehicle, especially a shiny used one.
