2007 Audi A4 Horror Story

This car has been a nightmare. Owned it for about 6 months and have had a little less than a month of it running correctly. I have spent over $2000 of my money trying to get this POS running well and it's just not happening. I've given up on the dealership (I now see why they are nicknamed "stealership" and am now consulting an audi forum "audizine" who seem to be pointing me in the right direction but man what a horror show. I wish I would have bought anything else. Audi is a dream car, the idea of it running correctly for any amount of time is just a dream. I have had a 1998 Ford explorer that was way more reliable than this. Hell my first car, a 1980 Datsun was way more reliable. Audi of America claims to want to help but they just say to go to the dealership where they charge you unheard of amounts of money and send you on your way with a still-faulty car. $1200 I should have had a whole new motor. Afwul awful awful I hate this experiance.

I was certainly unimpressed with my previous Audi A8. And even more unimpressed with the service department. Audi used to be known for terrible reliability, but had supposedly improved.
I suppose they did, but not enough.

Audis now seem to be reliable for between four and six years. Six years happens to be the limit of the CPO warranty. The 2007s are now nearly eight.

Whenever someone says they want a car to be reliable for 8+ years, I feel I have no choice but to recommend a Honda or Toyota, as much as I wish this were not the case.

Typical early VW direct injection problem no doubt - have seen it on a 2006 Audi A3. Completely sludge filled camshaft area, totally carboned-up intake valves. Needs a complete cylinder head overhaul, $2K minimum. Then you have 15 to 20 thousand miles before you have to do it all over again.

Same thing happens to the direct-injected Lexus IS250, but not the port+direct injection IS350.

People need to read vehicle-specific car forums on the internet. Seriously, it should be your due diligence before buying any vehicle, especially a shiny used one.

The repair wound up being two $15 dollar relays. The car runs great now. The problem was getting it diagnosed by those idiots at Thompson Audi. One of the mechanics broke my ECU cover when he was removing it, the put low and high pressure pumps in which cost so much money and didnt fix shit. I dont mind paying if it fixes the problem but to drive home with a $1200 and no resolution sucked bad. The sludge problem can be eliminated by installing a catch can. The only rason the car has this problem is because of our emission standards. I did research the car. I researched the shit out of it. The 2.0 is pretty easy to work on if you know your shit (which I have throughout this process) I will never go to an Audi dealership again. Fuck them for this whole experiance. The car itself is baller. Shiny thing. Shut up stupid Canadien.
