Why the 2001 Audi A4?

Feature availability

Loaded with features. Power everything. Controls are logical and generally well laid out.

Safety & braking

Excellent safety rating. Side curtain airbags front and rear. Typical German design and engineering. Big brakes stop the car well.

Powertrain performance

All wheel drive makes slippery conditions, including deep snow a lot safer. The V6 delivers good performance, is smooth and quiet. The transmission is silky smooth.

Handling

Very nice handling. Precise and responsive. Like a sport sedan.

Why Not the 2001 Audi A4?

Rear seat room & comfort

Very tight leg room in back. Shoulder room for 2 adults comfortably. The pillar and door hinge intrude into the rear door opening making exiting the car a squeeze.

Fuel economy

Fuel economy was OK, but not great. For a car this size it is lower than I would like to see. We averaged 19 MPG just about everywhere. Our average driving is a mix of highway and town. AWD and a V6 take their toll. Also the car is on the heavy side.
