German cars like to be serviced at regular intervals they are precisely engineered beasts unlike Hondas and Toyotas that run well for a long time then go to the junk yard. If you maintain your car it will truly last you a lifetime. If you don't care then just drive one of the pedestrian Japanese offerings, boring but safe...till you get in a crash anyway.
