Why the 2002 Audi TT?

Exterior styling

One-of-a-kind look. Production model is close to when car was first introduced as a concept.

Interior styling

Beautifully designed, simple but effective dash and controls. Form and function in one. Harmonized with exterior, feels like designed have sweated over the details.

Powertrain performance

While not in the same league as some of its convertible competitors (say, Porsche Boxter) it has enough power to be fun and get one into trouble.

Materials & workmanship

The car has held up very well in 7 years and has aged very well. A few places where fingers touch the interior frequently, such as the preset buttons on the radio and sliding cover of compartment in center console show wear.

Handling

Similar to the powertrain performance, the handling is no match for some competitors (say, Boxter or MX-5) but the overall handling is good enough for spirited driving. It is well balanced.

Why Not the 2002 Audi TT?

Discounts & incentives

When I purchased the car, there were no significant incentives.

Price or payments

From a purely technical perspective, it is expensive for what it is, having VW GTI underpinnings. As a whole package, I think the price is about right.
