2014 BMW 7-Series Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: All the bells and whistles, great mileage and performance on the highway, but in town mileage sucks. by jrreeves

Introduction

We leased a 750Li before and the 740Li performance is not as good, BUT torque during acceleration is good--you just don't get the throaty rumble from under the hood. Highway mileage fuel consumption is almost unbelievable; in town fuel consumption sucks. Meanwhile, the amenities are spectacular: blind spot avoidance, early warning systems, night vision (great for driving in deer country) and the Bang & Olufsen sound system is spectacular. This is a comfortable car that is great for long journeys. We have noticed that sometimes a car wash will drive the rear cameras crazy, but everything returns to normal afer things dry out (30 minutes). So far, reliability is great. We are so pleased with this car that we may purchase it when the lease ends.

2014 BMW 7-Series Love Letter

It is a joy to drive. Doesn't feel as heavy as earlier 7 series (post Bangle).

Conclusion

We've had this car for two years and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has true BMW handling and performance with all of the comforts anyone could ask for. Very reliable with zero defects. GPS is better than ever but still has some flaws and the driver is better served by TomTom or Magellan. Head up display makes me a better driver--hard to ignore the fact you are speeding when the limit is posted next to your current speed right there on the windshield--although it doesn't affect my driving on expresswways.
