2003 Buick Regal Love Letter

I have to say, I got a very good deal on my Regal. I work for a local Chevrolet dealership, and an older couple traded it in. They were the original owners of this vehicle. I spoke with them, and they said it was garage kept since day one, and never driven in the snow. Luickly, mine had zero rust on it anywhere, not even surface rust! Therefore, I picked it up for a steal.

My model, the GS, has the Supercharged 3.8L V6. For a mid size family sedan, this thing gets up and goes. The GS's come with GM's FE3 sport handling package. Again, this is no Corvette, but it does stay firmly planted when making higher speedmaneuvers. The transmissions in these are known to have pressure control solenoid issues. You would know one if you drove it with a bad solenoid. It can be a pricey repair, as the cover has to come off the tranny, and therefore, the engine cradle has to be lowered down. All in all, the 3800 V6 is a bullet proof engine. If properly maintained, these things can, and will last over 300,000 miles (I've seen it myself). Fuel economy is pretty good. I get about 27.5-28 MPG on the highway with the cruise control set to about 72-75 MPH. You do have to use premium fuel with the Supercharged engine. My GS came equipped with the Monsoon audio package. This is nothing like todays Bose, or Sony, or Alpine factory systems, but remember, this is older technology we're talking about. It seems to have a full range of highs, lows, and mids to complete the sounds table. Interior layout is okay, everything is within easy reach.

Overall, this is a great car. You just have to find one with little, to no rust. That's what kills these cars is the rust. Ask the previous owner for any maintance records they may have. Proper preventitive maintance is key to keeping this cars in prime mechanical condition!
