Why the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?

Ride smoothness

Handles and rides well.

Quietness

Fairly quiet car - no issues when making hands-free phone calls.

Cargo capacity

Plenty of cargo space with third row seats down. Decent amount even when they are up.

Rear seat room & comfort

The second row captain's chairs are roomy and comfortable. The third row bench seat has a surprising amount of space, in particular with the 2nd row seats slid forward some.

Reliability & durability

So far, so good. This is my second Traverse and no major issues to report.

Why Not the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse?

Powertrain performance

Transmission on both Traverses were/are 'clunky'. Often searches for gear and will occassionaly switch hard into a gear at lower speeds.

Front seat support & comfort

The seats we have on our LT are fine but the headrest on both cars I've had jut out too far and cannot be adjusted back far enough to be comfortable. This is particularly uncomfortable on longer trips.

Exterior styling

Strangely enough for an SUV, I have experienced significant wheel vibration at highway speeds during the winter. The cause appears to be snow/ice build up in the wheel wells. On a number of occassions I've had to get off the highway to 'chip' snow/ice out from behind the front wheels to stop the vibration which is significant. This has happened with both Traverses and is more than a minor annoyance and nothing I've experienced in any other car I've owned. Design flaw in my opinion.

Other Features of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Tires

Just a note on the tires - they are expensive to replace.

Driving a 2014 Traverse LTZ with all the goodies except rear seat entertainment and trailer package. Being retired, didn't think I needed the entertainment, grands are teens. Rear seat has been put up twice, never used. First surprise 87,000 miles on the orginal tires, rotate every 5000, balance every 10,000, not as many potholes in the Rio Grande Valley, but enough to bend a wheel. Second surprise, 20 inch aluminan wheels are a bit fragile, $540 lesson. Bridgestone replaced the tire. Other than that we've enjoyed 104,000 miles trouble free driving. Twenty inch tires with wide footprint makes it ride like a Buick, only not as cushy. Fuel milage locked at about 21 overall in spite of interstate travel at 75-80, 75 is legal in Texas. Joy to drive, on the open road just set the cruise and let it roll.

We rented a Enclave Leather with FWD. What a beautiful and creamy ride. The turning radius was very good too.

I did a two way, one hour all highway drive and got over 26 mpg. Which is very good for this largest 3-row crossover in the Acadia, Emlnclave, and Traverse.
