We purchased our Volt in May of 2012 and we are still enjoying the car to this day.

Our lifetime average is 167 mpg after 15,000 miles!
The car is amazingly quiet around town. It does pick up some road noise on the highway due to the hatchback design.
We have had to take it back to the dealer twice in 15000 miles. Once was for a coolant leak and the other time was to reset a check engine light.
Scheduled maintenace so far is $0. The oil change should come due sometime next year, brakes should last to over 100,000 miles easy, and the tune up and air filter should not be needed until 100,000 miles due to the very little use of the gas engine.
My wife loves the OnStar app for her Droid phone, the ability to download the destinations to the navigation before leaving the house, and the Volt stats web site.
Why Not the 2012 Chevrolet Volt?
I would like to see an option for additional electric range. Other than that it is a great car. There is no other car out there that can do what this one can.
Conclusion
There is no other car that can do what the Volt can. We used to own a Prius, nice car, 47 mpg lifetime average, but the Volt is better in so many ways.

I hate admitting this, but I do not check my messages that often. To answer the question we just traded the Volt in on a new Chevy Bolt. The Volt was a very good car. Our lifetime MPG did drop down to 149 MPG because we bought a cabin in Arnold, CA and my wife was using the Volt to drive up there. The cabin is about 160 miles from our home. If you factor those trips out, the Volt lifetime MPG would be 200+. Her new Bolt can make the trip with 80 miles to spare on the battery.
