Reviewed: 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

4dr Minivan, ext. 251-horsepower 4.0L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?

Cargo capacity

Stow-n-Go great for my lifestyle-traveling to bicycling & triathlon events & to home improvement store saving me $$ by avoiding delivery charges for bulky stuff. I did not get towing package, but that allows towing up to 3500 lb

Powertrain performance

The 4 liter V-6 is SWEET. Hot-rod of minivans. Will light up the tires from standing start.

Quietness

Generally quiet as most luxury cars, although the huge interior volume of a van may amplify some road noise.

Ride smoothness

Rides like a luxury car. Road bumps are nicely muted.

Why Not the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?

Materials & workmanship

Interior fit/finish could be better for MSRP $37k plus, although street price is much lower. Not that bad, just could be better.

Rear seat room & comfort

Stow-n-Go rear seats (rear AND middle seats fold flat into floor) are a mixed blessing. GREAT for cargo room flexibility but too small for best comfort for larger adults.

Color choices

Like most companies, could not get bright blue or green exterior. Leather interior colors on Limited are too light for my taste.

Handling

Too soft, although honestly no minivan has sport sedan handling. Some of that may be due to stock tires. Handling is better than most cars on snow.
