Traded in 2007 Charger R/T with 100K.
Decided to try the V6 with the 5-spd auto.
The changes made between the old and new style, outside and inside are just incredible. This is the quietest, smoothest, nicest driving car I've ever owned.
Although the V6 with the 5-speed auto has received bad press from the auto magazines, I am here to tell you that the car is almost as fast of my old R/T.
Fuel economy is about 20-22 in town, and 29-36 on the highway. No complaints there!
Only problems have been mostly involving sales practices of the selling dealership, warranty issue with a local dealer, and the water pump and the usual front end parts needed replacing by 7500 miles. I chose another dealership who took care of everything, and I am still very happy with the car and the assistance from Dodge.
Since I am not driving this car a whole lot, I am not certain when I may trade this one, and I will probably go back to the V8 before they fade away due to CAFE.
I, like most folks, really love the styling of the 2011- 2014 Charger.
Mine is Granite, a very dark brown, which is quite eye-catching, as it's not a real common color.
Inside, the changes made to the newer Charger are phenomenal. The inside is no longer hard rattly plastic. Most surfaces are soft touch, and the LEDbacklighting is great.
The workmanship, inside and out, are superb. They do a great job at Brampton.
The instrument panel, radio, and HVAC are super simple to figure out, and the steering wheel controls add a much need layer of safety.
Visibility over my 2007 R/T is incredible.
The ride and quietness of this car are superb.
Contrary to what a few auto magazines have written, I find my V6/5-spd Auto combination to provide plenty of power. It's very close to being as quick as my old R/T. Fuel economy has been great, I average about 21 in town, and about 34 on the road, in summer. Winter, it's about 18 in town, and 29 on the road. We get some very cold weather here in WI.
I've almost always had a Chrysler product. I traded in a Ford Crown Vic that I had purchased new for a used 2007 R/T. The differences between the two would take a month of Sundays to list, but it was nice being back in a Dodge. Although that car proved to have lived a rough life before I purchased it, the overall design of the car, and the changes I read about for the new ones, lead me to purchase this car new in December of 2013.
The only real changes I would like Chrysler to make is get rid of the terrible dealers that still somehow exist.
If someone is looking for a "large" car, this is by far the best value out there.
Before trade, I purchased this car brand new off the dealer lot for their advertised price of $21,500, after a rebate and their own discounts.
It's hard to find a decent used car of this size and caliber for that money, and it was an easy decision to make.
I will buy another Charger in due time.
