Why the 2001 Dodge Stratus?

Fuel economy

I typically drive highway miles or constant country roads. I can easily achieve over 30mpg. The onboard trip computer even calculates it.

Driving position & visibility

No blind spots and good mirrors make backing up easy. Driving position very adjustable. DONT like the relatively short/shallow pitch of the roof, feels like wearing a baseball cap.

Why Not the 2001 Dodge Stratus?

Powertrain performance

The car is a touch underpowered and the transmission tends to downshift and hunt. Shifts can be rough. This and longevity problems transmissions in Chrysler products lead to a bad reputation.

Materials & workmanship

Hard crappy plastics, ugly faux wood dash, rattles abound. Driver side armrest cover is broken off and the power window buttons had to be zip tied up to keep from falling into the door. Very cheap feeling plastic pieces.

Feature availability

Lacking some of the more impressive features of era-cars. Mine is well-equipped but not by modern standards.
