Price or payments
I bought this car in Dec 2012 as a cheap car for my college-age son, when he was at home, to get to work. I also bought it with the intent of driving it myself when he was in school. The best I can say is you get what you pay for. I'm not unhappy, since I didn't spend much. But if I could do it over again, I'd buy a 2003-2007 Ford Focus hatchback. I've owned 2 previously, and they were much better cars, all-around.
Fuel economy
Very good. When I drive it in my mostly rural neighborhood, I get 25-27 MPG when not in winter. I know my son has done better on long trips.
Reliability & durability
Yes, I bought it used, but it had all kinds of leaks I'd never experienced before in a Ford: Auto Transmission cooler lines, thermostat, and now, I realize there is a gasoline vapor leak from somewhere in the fuel system. I can't park it in my garage because the fumes are strong.
Front seat support & comfort
Comfort isn't bad, but it could sure use a center armrest. And I haven't found a suitable one on the aftermarket.
Audio & nav systems
The worst Ford audio system I've listened to, and the CD player only plays pre-recorded CDs - I can't play my collection of CD-R discs. That's crazy.
Quietness
The 2.0L engine is the loudest Ford engine I've ever heard, especially when the tranny drops into 1st or 2nd gear.
Ride smoothness
Not terrible, but I'm getting what I paid for.
