Reviewed: 2006 Honda Accord

2dr Coupe 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD

Why the 2006 Honda Accord?

Price or payments

I received a $3500 incentive for buying a "left-over" car. I purchased a new 2006 Accord in Jan/2007.

Powertrain performance

Impressive power from the 3.0 V6. Torque is also strong, particularly over 4000RPM. Fairly smooth engine, you need to watch your speed sometimes.

Fuel economy

I have achieved about 26MPG in 85% city driving and about 32MPG in 85% highway. Quite good for a car with a six cylinder engine

Interior styling

Interior materials are of the soft touch variety. The cabin is ergonomically designed, with everything where you would expect it to be

Front seat support & comfort

The front seats have good side bolstering for spirited driving. They are also comfortable for long trips.

Why Not the 2006 Honda Accord?

Materials & workmanship

I have had numerous quality control issues with this vehicle. Everything from scratched glass to loose heatshields and loose seat rails. Also some interior materials are cheap, especially considering this car costs over in $36,000 Canadian Dollars (new)

Reliability & durability

This car has been at the dealer almost once every couple of months, it feels like the car is just falling apart in my hands. Just the other day the power window controls fell out of the door. The transmission sometimes refuses to go into gear from Park

Safety & braking

The braking could not be worse in this car. When you test drive it, they feel great. However, after a few months you start to realize where Honda saved money. Excessive brake judder at high speeds and brake fade are just two complaints out of possibly 4

Audio & nav systems

The audio system sounds alright with the windows rolled up, however, not when they are down. The system has a hard time keeping up with wind noise at city cruising speeds. Also, the CD changer has a tendancy to skip occasionally - even on non-copied CDs
