Reviewed: 2012 Honda CR-V

4dr SUV 185-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic AWD

Why the 2012 Honda CR-V?

Fuel economy

Had two months and drove 2950 miles. We averaged 29.9 mpg with about 70% being highway miles. Local miles are about 27mpg with between 30-34 on the highways at 70mph. These are actual miles via filling up although the onboard computer is very close

Powertrain performance

I have owned over 20 vehicles in my life and this CRV AWD has plenty of power. It is perfectly balanced for power and efficiency. Compared to the Equinox which we were looking at, it is about 1 second faster from 0-60.

Ride smoothness

This vehicle rides about as good as any and was one of our prime reasons for purchasing. Only a Lexus 350 and Cadillac that I've driven were slightly better. The Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain were very similar.

Cargo capacity

Amazing cargo and very good passenger space. Another reason we purchased this vehicle. The dropdown rear seats setup is quite amazing.

Reliability & durability

We have had zero problems with this vehicle. Most vehicles I've had in the past required one more return trips when new.

Why Not the 2012 Honda CR-V?

Feature availability

(didn't know where to place this). The only problem with the CRV are the tires if one lives in snowbelt states. The original tires are horrible in winters with ice and snow and need to be changed.
