I drove an automatic. The acceleration to 50 mph felt sluggish almost all the way, yet shifts were happening around 4500 RPM. Throttle response when cruising was very sluggish. I grew up driving air-cooled Volkswagens, at least they respond (if gently).
The steering was twitchy. The chassis felt quite willing to play, but I feared that a sneeze would put me (or more to the point my wife or my teenagers) into the next lane. Twitchy steering with a high center of gravity made it feel unsafe.
