There was a low volume, persistent sound reportedly coming from the headliner rubbing against a part of door frame. Headliner was dropped and foam was used to prevent the rubbing. Problem completely solved!
Panoramic sunroof rattled and creaked on bumpy roads. A dry silicone lubricant was applied to gaskets Panoramic sunroof seal was being pulled down into the roof when roof was closed.
Sunroof rattle has become even worse
There was a constant noise from the moonroof. Dealer checked twice to confirm noise. They took the moonroof off and found the noise in the pannel. Hyundai has no parts. Car lying at dealer since three weeks. Hyundai refused to give rental :(
The noise continues from the sunroof and the dealership has not been able to repair it. They gave the car back after applying grease which stopped the noise temporarily but as soon as the grease dried up the squeaky noise started again.
The car is at the dealership since October 5, 2015. Now the cluster has failed along with the squeaky noise in the sunroof. The dealer says they do not have parts and waiting from Hyundai Canada.
Chronic snapping noise from panoramic sunroof. Told that it cannot be fixed.
Minor creaking with glass sun roof. Dealer made a few adjustments and all's good.
Moon roof squeak. They applied lubricant, which worked for a while, but the squeak has since returned.
Very cheap build quality, when driving in snow I fear for my car, front bumper was slightly pushed in by snow and cracks appeared just by regular driving. Winter driving is not for this car. Mechanics are still great but not body build.
after three visits squeek finally isolated to allignment dowels on rear subframe rubbing against holes in body. Solution was to remove subframe and drill hole diameter larger. no problems since
Steering wheel inserts peeling. They were replaced. Chrome trim on passenger side of the hood was loose and pulling away from the car.
Noticed squeaking from headliner, especially when cold. Mentionned to dealer. He suggested sunroof seal replacement. Performed under warranty in the spring. Noticed improvement, but its warmer now. We'll see next winter.
Roof started to rattle again. Dealer had the car for 3 days. Still no fix.
This time dealer gave me a rental.
Left car again at dealer. Contacted Hyundai Dist of PR.
front bumper/wheel well clips keep breaking and so the wheel liner falls into the tire, getting shredded again as it rubs on the tire. Dealer said these clips are not under warranty since they have had so much problem with them
Issue with noise in roofliner, above drivers head, towards center pillar. Dealer replaced sunroof, which was not the issue (I had advised as such. Then new sunroof leaked. Dealer corrected sunroof, which had not been installed correctly. Also added foam tape to area they thought noise was coming from. Did not fix. I ended up fixing by spraying white silcoine lube under the headliner-into roof area.
Some paint issues that needed repairing under warranty (minor issues). Bodyshop delay meant it was there longer than expected.
Still have sunroof issue.
Interior pillar molding came loose at 150 miles. Part defective and replaced.
Plastic frame around drivers seat split where corners meet. New plastic frame pieces were ordered and the broken pieces replaced under warranty
Driver's door was not aligned correctly, so the trim and curves on the body didn't line up between doors. Door was readjusted so it lines up properly, but the trim is still a little off.
Entire taillight assembly broke and fell out of body when attempting to change blown bulb. Had to remove bulb entirely and drive to the dealer with light unit in front seat
Drivers side door seal torn/ripped. Service manager states driver entry is the problem. I'm the driver and I don't touch the frame entering vehicle. I can't account for rip; repaired under warranty though.
plastic wheel well liner fastener replaced. rust and rear bumper mount.

Front passenger seat headrest was rattling when in the up position. Dealer ordered a new headrest - rattling has stopped for now.

Plastic molding on A-Pillars started to fall off. Dealer ordered new mounting brackets and install is scheduled.
Door weatherstrip came loose. Minor. Dealer fixed.
The paint on the back of the trunk is bubbling and peeling off. I took this to the PUGI-Hyundai repair shop and because if was just over 36K they said that it was no longer under warranty.
dash and console rattles
TSB work to correct faulty fuel line clip. metal fuel lines vibrate on firewall at 1750 rpm
Two recalls were completed. Additionally, carpet and floor mats were replaced due to mat hooks tearing away from carpet causing driver mat to slide around.
Silver peeling on mirror, replaced it.
Plastic chrome flaking off on drivers side inside door handle. Replaced under warranty.
Finish wearing off on steering wheel inserts at 4:00 and 8:00 positions, parts replaced under warranty just before expiring at 60,000 miles
Sunroof button broken
Sun roof leaked.
Leaking sun roof. TSB was done to resolve it.
Right side a-pillar molding kept falling off. It happened since the car was new. We didn't repair it but it was annoying.
Issue with driver seat frame. Squeak.
Creak behind glovebox while car is cornering.
Rattle from glovebox. Self applied Hyundai TSB for this issue plus added foam pads to glove box lid. Dash creaks loudly. Installed shims in dash to quiet the creaking noise. Interior rattle in rear seat area somewhere...not yet found.
Squeak/creak from center console. Turned out to be the black plastic gear shift surround rubbing on the console. Sprayed silicone lubricant under/around the black plastic gear shift surround. Squeak/creak eliminated. Hood was not properly aligned. Driver's side of hood was ~1/4" lower than passenger side. Raised the driver's side hood "bumper" and now hood gap is the same on both sides. Loud knock/rattle in vent system when temperature dial set at certain points. Dealer said the entire dash would need to come out to fix problem. Elected to live with it as opposed to having the dash removed. Front passenger seat vibrates while driving. Very loud metallic clunk and constant tick/rattle from seat back. Reclined the seat back a little farther, and raised headrest one notch. Rattle less frequent now, but not eliminated.
Right rear C-Pillar trim rattled. Wedged a piece of foam rubber between trim and rear window. Noise gone. Major rattle in upper dash along base of windshield. Getting worse as car ages. Especially loud when temperature is below 60 degrees. Dealer said dash would need to be removed to fix it. Living with it for now.
Carpet was falling apart. Dealer claimed this was "wear and tear" and that parts of the carpet "appeared to be melted". Nobody has smoked in the car or put anything hot on the carpet. Mfr paid for carpet but dealer made me pay labor.
Front seat fabric separated The steering wheel - switches that operate the phone and volume - the paint had started to peel. The dealer recommended replacement. It took three visits for them to get it right, finally ending up replacing the whole steering wheel.
Replaced shifter knob.
Chrome flaking on interior door handles
Original plastic clip was slightly irregular and wouldn't hold the "A" pillar in place at the top. Barely noticeable, took about 5 minutes to fix, and didn't cost me a penny
Replace leather cover on rear seat. A few of the stitches were visible at a seam in bright sunlight.
Plastic ticking noise in headliner near sunroof. Repair unsuccessful. They are having a difficult time finding it. Hyundai has authorized repair so no additional expense beyond 1 hour diagnosis. Leaving at dealer on 4/9 while on vacation.
Tech dropped headliner and found noise coming from a place where 3 seams are spot welded together. Added separation between 2 pieces of metal. Noise gone. Silence is golden.
Drivers seatback leather wearing at bolster. Dealer replaced leather cover no charge.
Had dealer replace steering wheel trim pieces around phone and trip computer controls as they were beginning to look shabby. I purchased trim on web for $30. Paid dealer $65 to install after I was unable to install myself.
TSB on glove box rattle. Installed foam padding kit per Hyundai TSB. Problem resolved.
Front bumper assembly is held together with very thin plastic tabs that easily snap. Poor engineering. Faulty use of thin plastic tabs. Disappointed. Was told it's not under warranty. I am very disappointed.
Front bumper tabs were replaced with an epoxy and two pin rivets. I'm OK with the repair.
wind noise around driver side window. Part had to be ordered from Korea. Replaced part defective,still not repaired aftr 2 months.
Took a pilar trim off and added a shim where it meets the dash.
Still makes noise, in fact it's worse.
The left rear exterior passenger door handle broke and fell off the door. Interior latch clip which unlatches the door simply broke in half. Had to replace the door handle assembly.
Right passenger exterior door handle broke away from the door opening.
Driver rear door handle not functional possibly due to lost screw or part that fell inside door and was unretrievable. Door handle assembly replaced.
Replaced passenger rear outer door handle. Handle had broken off probably a year prior but our driver away at college and had not replaced it. This is the 2nd time we have replaced a rear outer door handle on this vehicle.
leather seat cracks and dealer did leather service - dyeing.. Not perfect as new car, but seems ok.
The lid for the dash console cubby hole cover got stuck. The plastic frame around the light switch in the ceiling cracked. The latch broke that holds the center armrest console cubby closed. These all broke after 5 years of ownership.
Drivers side mirror trim had begun to separate, which would allow water to eventually enter this space. Dealership agreed it might be a potential problem, ordered and installed a new mirror assembly.
Odometer display cluster developed a crack. Dealer has ordered a replacement to be replaced under factory warranty.

The plastic cover under the center console on the passenger side came off. Addressed to dealer in Oct 2008. Dealer forgot to order a part, got the wrong part, forgot again, did a quick fix by pushing it back but happened again and again.
The service manager said he repaired by replacing the clip that snaps plastic cover. It seemed OK when I picked up the car, but the crack occurred again after a few days.
Center console fixed.
Addressed transmission problem via e-mail and the dealer was willing to take a look at it again. In addition to that, the part for the center console arrived.
Drivers side sun visor won't stay in place. Dealer replaced under warranty.
The sun visor hinge broke and the whole assembly had to be replaced
Factory steel wheels had rusted, Hyundai refused to pay to refinish, as car had over 36k miles on it. Dealer just sanded surface rust off, charged 45 dollars.
Latch on armrest compartment broke.
Replace broken center arm rest cover
Replaced driver's side sunvisor. The sunvisor would no longer stay in any position and drooped.
Passenger side crackle sound at the windshield / dash interface over bumps. Shoved some soft foam into the crevice to give some dampening. Problem solved with amazing success. Will need to get it fixed properly under warranty in the future.
The dashboard cracked in two places along the outline of the passenger airbag. This appeared to happen spontaneously; I had never placed anything on it nor applied heavy pressure when cleaning the dashboard.
Very small paint chips on hood, fender numerous scratches under drivers door handle. Reported because paint warranty was about to expire. Dealer denied warranty coverage, claiming road hazards (rocks from road, gravel trucks etc) hot covered.
Driver's sun visor no longer snapped back into up position. New visor was installed.
Driver side sun visor loose. Would not stay in up position. Entire unit replaced.
Apparently all the Sonatas got issues with the plastci rod that connects the sunvisor to the roof. the plastic cracks and sunvisor doesn't hold in up position. There was a service bulletin on it, dealer replaced them at different times.
The visor on the driverís side would not stay up. Would have cost $120 to fix. I took this as a sign and traded the car to get back under warranty.
I am original owner. So far this car has had only one repair: the drivers seat began to settle from use. The seat was replaced N/C. Only wear items replaced by myself were front brake shoes and rotors and of course new tires at 50K. My 20th and best auto.
The rear bumper is being damaged by normal use of the trunk. Bumper replacement.

Replaced right sun visor. The plastic at the right edge broke, causing the visor to flop down (would not stay up). Simple repair, less than a hour, and a cheap part on ebay.

Pealing paint around the glass divider on the left rear window. Contacted dealer and was told that issue was not covered by existing or by extended warranty. Contacted CEO of Hyundai. He authorized dealer to repair paint.
Weatherstripping at bottom of drivers door torn.
Torn drivers door weatherstripping which was previously inspected and a new part ordered was replaced.
It was the typical broken drivers windshield visor.
