Introduction

Great as a daily driver, it provides a good balance between luxury and performance, especially at its price.

The G force. Acceleration is top of the class. Handling is praiseworthy, it can handle curves with aggression and precision, yet remains smooth and controlled when the road is not.

2013 Infiniti G Love Letter

Every Infiniti G offers standard High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights. The silhouette offers a wedged roofline and a sweeping bodyside character line that emphasizes both the rich shoulder surfaces and the G's rear-wheel drive orientation in Coupe or Sedan.

The exterior is accented in chrome and covered with high gloss clear-coat paint. The front of the G Sedan is highlighted by its iconic headlight and grille design, which offer a crisp form and high-quality look. Standard fog lights are located in the lower fascia, where they help provide an upscale and distinctive appearance.

Also standard is a seven-inch LCD center display, hands-free voice and phone supported by a built-in Bluetooth wireless interface, Rear-View Camera, AM/FM/Satellite Radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, key-less entry, aluminum interior trim, and anti-theft security system with an engine immobilizer.

The G Sedan comes in a Journey or AWD X model that has a best in-class fuel-injected 24-valve double-overhead cam V6 3.7L engine, and features the standard 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift modes and ESC, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, 17-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel independent suspension with stabilizer, high-intensity-discharge xenon headlights with integrated fog lamps, and large LED tail lamps.

The Journey and X package interior is trimmed in aluminum shodo finish, leather-appointed seats witha manual driver seat lumbar adjustment. Intelligent key has a one-touch up/down for all four windows, and a HomeLink garage-door transmitter. The four-door sedan models include all the same Journey trim options (auto on/off headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated power mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror with digital compass*) as well as heated eight-way power front bucket seats and heated power side mirrors.

Package options that are found in the G Sedan Journey models would be important. The one I would have to add is the Premium Package option. This package includes a Bose 10-speaker audio with the drivers sound stage, a premium in-dash studio-on-wheels, intelligent drivers-seat power tilting-and-telescoping steering columnmemory features both tied to the key, along with Rear Parking Sensors, and a power sliding-and-tilting glass moon roof/sunroof.

I would also strongly consider adding the factory Navigation Package options. The navigation HDD System has a High Definition touch-screen display, voice-activated controls, SiriusXM Radio Weather/Travel/Traffic, a single-disc DVD player with streaming media from bluetooth or via USB to the display screen video player. *The Digital Compass in mirror is replaced by compass on-screen display.

The others available are:

The Performance Tire and Wheel Package has the 10-spoke 19 x 8.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/45R19 (front) and 19 x 9.0-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 245/40R19 (rear) W-rated summer performance tires that can be added to the Journey Model to look more sporty.

A Sport Appearance Package can be added to the AWD X Model. It still has the Sport-styled steering wheel with special stitching color (except Stone interior), aluminum trimmed pedals, sport-styled front seats with thigh extensions and drivers power torso and thigh bolsters, Sport front fascia, side sills and unique headlights. A 14.7:1 Sport tuned steering gear. A 10-way power drivers sport seat with manual thigh extension, and drivers power torso and thigh support adjustment; 8-way power front-passengers sport seat both withSport-styled steering wheel with special stitching color (except Stone interior), aluminum trimmed pedals.Solid-magnesium paddle shifters. Split Wheels sizes with 5-spoke wheels. Sport brakes with 4-piston opposed front calipers with 14-inch rotors and 2-piston opposed rear calipers with 13.8-inch rotors. Sport-tuned suspension. Unique tuned exhaust.

The complete Sport Package that includes the Sport Package equipped models, standard on G37 Sport 6MT that has a close-ratio lightweight 6-speed manual transmission and both Premium and Navigation Packages. This option adds a distinctive Sport front fascia, side sills and unique headlights. A 14.7:1 Sport-tuned steering gear. A 10-way power drivers sport seat with manual thigh extension, and drivers power torso and thigh support adjustment; 8-way power front-passengers sport seat both with Sport-styled steering wheel with special stitching color (except Stone interior), aluminum trimmed pedals, sport-styled front seats with thigh extensions and drivers power torso and thigh bolsters. Solid-magnesium paddle shifters (not available with 6-speed manual transmission). Split Wheels sizes with 5-spoke wheels, W-rated summer performance tires on front (18 x 7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/50R18), and rear (18 x 8.5-inch 245/45R18) W-rated summer performance tires. Sport brakes with 4-piston opposed front calipers with 14-inch rotors and 2-piston opposed rear calipers with 13.8-inch rotors. Sport-tuned suspension. Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD). Unique tuned exhaust.

The Technology Package requires both Premium and Navigation Packages, thenadds Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking, the Advanced Climate Control System with Plasmacluster air purifier, Rain-sensing, flat-blade variable intermittent front windshield wipers, and Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

The Interior Accent Package comes with high gloss maple accents on center console, instrumental panel and doors.

Other nice add-ons would be the Trunk Mat, Trunk Net, & First Aid Kit. Appearance is improved with the Stainless steel illuminated kick plateson each front door sills. Appearance is protected by paint-matching splash guards that are available for both non-Sport and Sport packages.

Other available add-ons are a Trunk organizer.Interior accent lighting. Aerodynamic kit (4-piece). Midnight black grille. Bright 18-inch, 9-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels. Dual DVD head restraint monitors.

Exterior Color Options: Malbec Black was added in 2012, in 2010 the Smoky Quartz and Graphite Shadow were added, along with carryover colors Vibrant Red, Lakeshore Slate, Liquid Platinum, Blue Slate, Black Obsidian and Moonlight White.

Interior colors options come in Stone, Wheat or Graphite leather with matching upholstery.

Conclusion

I would recommend it based on the visual curb appeal with owner strengths in performance with practicality. Avoid if getting great fuel economy concerns you or if the engine seems too extroverted for your taste.

I have a G37xS and fuel economy is a much discussed topic on forums. I have found that the engine loosens up after 35K miles and the fuel mileage got noticeably better. The mileage ramps up quickly if you lower your speed. On trips through back roads doing 60-65 I can get 29 mpg. If you use cruise and set at 70 you will get 27-28. I consider that good for 328hp. Reliability is excellent. Two minor problems over the 93K miles I have had the car - center speaker came loose and made a buzz (fixed under warranty) and a piece of rubber trim on the exterior at the base of the windshield came loose. Other than that only fluids and tires and a brake job so far.

I tend to agree. Owned the earlier G35X with AWD and the mileage did improve. I minded the gas pedal and stayed at the high end of the speed limit, so my change wasn't as pronounced.

I had replaced the AWD in 2015 with a 2013 G37 RWD, and the gas milage was much better. I just completed a road trip with better than 26 MPG even with LA Traffic. I entered the last 6 months so you can see getting 21-23 MPG should be expected when driving normally.
