Exterior styling
Distinctive Land Rover exterior, classic "boxiness" but with nice modern flourishes (3 sun roofs, split rear hatch-tail gate, stadium seating). It's a head turner.
Interior styling
3 row seating offers unrivaled seating/gear configuration. Luxurious feel.
Powertrain performance
5.0 litre V8 feels like its turbocharged. Fantastic acceleration in all 3 transmission modes.
Fuel economy
Not great compared to a Honda Civic, but thats like comparing an F-18 to a Piper Cub. LR4 is very throttle sensitive. A lighter foot improves mileage considerably. Considering the size & capability of this vehicle, mileage is reasonable.
Handling
Awesome on dry offroad even with original tires. Very good on road if dry. The Continental 4x4 Contact tires hydro-plane very easily at highway speed on puddles-VERY DANGEROUS. A lame tire for such a beast of a 4x4.
Safety & braking
Very good braking in most dry highway situations, occassional 'clunk' in sudden lane changes at speed as the unusual rear counter weights lag a bit in stabilizing vehicle roll. Hydroplanes easily on OEM tires-watch out for puddles at hi-way speed!
Feature availability
Very few aftermarket accessories available. Some LR3 accessories won't fit. The front end is a nightmare for fitting a winch/bush bumper. An off road beast should be designed to receive things like winches (e.g., a hidden front receiver hitch point
Front seat room
Drivers left leg can bang against some door hardware. This needs some minor re-think. Otherwise a nice elevated driving and upright position with tremendous forward visibility. Front pillar does not cause much of a blind spot.
Cargo capacity
The Land Rover optional rear hitch is ridiculous in both cost and location(e.g., its nicknamed the plow). The hidden wiring harness access point, sensibly in middle of the bumper, is where a class III-IV hitch should be (and would allow a rear winch).
Powertrain performance
Outstanding. Feels like its turbo charged (its just direct fuel injection), but ridiculous acceleration with very smooth shifts in all 3 transmission modes.
