2004 Lexus ES Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by JNHaut
Reliability & durability
This car is extremely reliable. In 8 1/2 years of ownership, I've only had one repair; I replaced the alternator earlier this year at a cost of around $250.
Warranty, maintenance cost
The operating costs of this car are very low.
Safety & braking
The Lexus ES330 has very high safety ratings.
Handling
This car (which is based on the Toyota Camry) handles like a Camry. It lacks precision and has considerable side lean when cornering hard.
Cargo capacity
This car lacks a fold-down rear seat that is available on many competitors.
Feature availability
Back in 2004 when I purchased this car, rear view cameras and parking sensors were not available options. These features are now available on the Lexus ES 330.
The 2004 Lexus ES 330 combines a decent level of luxury with superb reliability and low overall operating costs. However, its handling is imprecise, its cargo space is hampered by the lack of a fold-down rear seat, and it lacks the safety features of more modern cars in the near-luxury class.
