Why the 2006 Lexus GS?

Ride smoothness

While the GS is the "sport model" of the Lexus sedans, it is still very quiet and comfortable to drive both around town and one the road.

Front seat support & comfort

Very good front seats with excellent back and head/neck spport for those of us who are spinally challengged.

Powertrain performance

More than adequate performance for a small 6 cylinder in a large car.

Why Not the 2006 Lexus GS?

Reliability & durability

I am very disappointed inte reliability of this Lexus. I've always believed the hype about the excellent reliabiity of the Lexus brand. I have not had any major problems, but it seems there is always something coming up. It is the only car that has stranded me or my wife in the pst 10 years, and that wtih a pinhole in the radiator. The radiator is very cheaply made, easily damaged by road debris. This car has been to the shop more than any car I've owned in the last 10 years other than my 1980 Porsche 911 and it sate 10 years before I bought it. The list of issues includes no catastrophic problems but I am more than likly to get rid 0f it before something major does happen. Not sure if i bought a lemon of if the 2006, being a major upgrade year model is experiencing the pain of new model syndrome.

Cargo capacity

The trunk space is ample enough measurement wise, but hard to use due to the shape of the car. MY wife is unable to get her stuff in the trucnk, but I can reposition and get everything in there if I put extra th0ought in the packing process.

Controls and instruments

All the controls are in a drop down panel tom the left of the steering wheel and knee level. What were they thinking? You can't see the controls while driving, especially at night, your knee hits the panel if you leave it open and it is generally an engineering SNAFU or FUBAR, depending on how you look at it.
