Why the 2004 Lexus LS?

Reliability & durability

Lexus reliability is outstanding. After owning Audi's and MB's, it was nice to never, I repeat never, have a repair. Routine mainenance and service is all this car has ever needed, except...(see below)

Dealer practices

Our local Lexus dealer should be the standard by which all others are judged. Clean, polite, efficient. New, clean loaners with a full tank of gas.

Quietness

Quiet as an empty library.

Ride smoothness

Smoothest ride I have ever encountered, although our dealer says the Rolls is a litte smoother.

Rear seat room & comfort

Reclining, heated, cooled, ventilated message seats. Rear cool box. You can even move the front passenger seat from the rear. What more could you want?

Why Not the 2004 Lexus LS?

Handling

Make no mistake, this is not an A8L or an S550. If you want handling in the German sense, go elsewhere.

Warranty, maintenance cost

Not inexpensive to service, but still better than my German cars. Much more expensive than so called American luxury cars.

Materials & workmanship

Top notch except for chrome wheels that bubbled after three years. Dealer replaced them at his cost with powder coated chrome look.

Audio & nav systems

Navigation cannot be altered, adjusted or modified while the car is in motion. Very frustrating.

Conclusion

Smooth, quiet, dependable. Beautifully made. Not "sexy" but built like a vault. A+ vehicle.
