2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Driving 4-5 hours in a row left no fatigue or discomfort in my back or legs. The seats are just firm enough but very supportive where they need to be. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 4dr Sedan 382-horsepower 5.5L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
The most comfortable seats among all its rivals including Lexus, Jaguar, BMW, Audi, and Infiniti. Plenty of adjustments in the seat and the telescoping steering wheel. Plenty of front seat room for people 6 foot tall and more. Provides ample support. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 210hp 3.0L V6 Diesel
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
Can spend all day driving this car and not be exhausted. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6

Much better sized for me. My prior 2007 three series BMW was too small and cramped. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 507-horsepower 6.2L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
Lots of room and has adjustments on multicontour seats. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD

2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Seat Room and Comfort: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Sedan 382-horsepower 5.5L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
The back seat is very comfortable and provides good headroom and seating support. They fold down to provide additional storage room. My complaint is that it is not S class roomy in the back. Leg and foot room can be limited if sitting behind a tall driver see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Sedan 382-horsepower 5.5L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
What is there not to like about 382 HP, 390ft/lbs of torque, 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.3 seconds traveling at 105 mph. These numbers rival the Corvettes built only a few years ago and this is a luxury 4 door sedan! see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 210hp 3.0L V6 Diesel
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
The combination of the diesel and 7 speed transmission makes for a great, flexible and smith drive train with power whenever you need it. Will never purchase a gas engine again. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan turbocharged 208hp 3.0L V6 Diesel
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
Fantastic performance and economy. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 507-horsepower 6.2L V8

It is extremely fast and spirited. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
268 German horsepower are as fast as 290 Lexus V8 power in my prior LS 400. The 5 speed automatic selects the proper gear in every case and the shifts are smooth. Quick kickdown for passing on two lane roads. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 382-horsepower 5.5L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
E550 with 382HP V8 has tremendous power and torque anywhere and anytime. Effortless and smooth. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
Great new V6. Fantastic 7-speed automatic shifts when and as it should. Returns very good economy: low 20s in town; high 20s on the highway. Very linear acceleration, which cannot be had in peaky, turbocharged, competitors. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
its v6 is much weaker than v8 in Genesis see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2008 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6

sluggish see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
2007 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic RWD
The steering wheel DOES NOT come back on center after a slow turn. You have to physically turn the wheel back. Something you have to get used to. see full Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
