2002 Nissan Maxima Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by scott

Powertrain performance
Very strong performance for a family sedan. Really strong midrange for quick passing. Freeway on-ramps are a blast.
Handling
Quick steering wheel response, flat cornering. Turning radius could be better though.
Safety & braking
The brakes are excellent. Stops very quickly without any drama. Really have to work to activate the ABS system which to me means the car is able to stop hard without losing traction.
Quietness
My one strong dislike about my Maxima is the road and wind noise. Through maxima.org I was able to find a cure for the wind noise and switching to Falken tires cut out some of the road noise. Still louding inside than my 626 was.
Ride smoothness
Most of the roads in the Dallas area are concrete and not in very good shape. The trade off for the excellent handling is a rough ride over bad roads. No complaints on smooth roads.
