Reviewed: 2009 Nissan Maxima

4dr Sedan 290-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed shiftable CVT FWD

Why the 2009 Nissan Maxima?

Exterior styling

It grabs the eye and demands attention. The car looks different depending on the viewing angle. That makes it interesting. Looks powerful and menacing yet has a refined appearance.

Powertrain performance

The CVT allows great town and country mileage. The Engine has more power than any driver actually needs. Any prolonged WOT in passing will see serious speed limit abuses. Pass at 50, you pull back in at 85 under WOT.

Front seat support & comfort

It fits everywhere. On a recent trip, I drove all day and was never "seat tired".

Handling

Very responsive steering and braking. Very tight in corners...better than I ever thought a FWD could be.

Fuel economy

It is between 25-29.2 on the highway depending on headwinds. It seems sensitive to wind, mileage-wise. In town is excellent. In 4k miles the worst tank has been 23.2 when it was brand new and very cold out. City mileage is understated in my opinion.
