Reviewed: 2010 Nissan Murano

4dr SUV 265-horsepower 3.5L V6 CVT AWD

Why the 2010 Nissan Murano?

Front seat support & comfort

Hip point makes easy entry/egress. Supports my 265 pound frame. Offers enough leg/hip/shoulder room. Seats are heated, which is great in the cold Arctic. Many choices of moving/tilting helps me get a comfortable position at all times whild driving!

Interior styling

Great layout and aesthetics are pleasing to the eyes. I prefer a 2 row 5 seater, and this even beat the Audi Q5. Instrumentation is easy to see in the cockpit at night, and makes it easy for passengers. Intuitive controls for NAV/Audio and steering wheel!

Materials & workmanship

Fit and Finish were a vast improvement from the past and surprising given the price. Enough sound absorbing materials were used to make this a quiet ride. All panels and trim fit extremely well. Seats dash, instruments and HID lights are of high quality!

Reliability & durability

This Murano LE AWD has never failed me in 6 months of operation in variable extreme frigid conditions. I have only had to change the oil, put air in the tires, and gas it up. I wonder what another winter or two of another 20,000 miles will do long term!

Powertrain performance

The CVT is well mated to the 3.5 engine with smooth response. It is easy to find the sweet spot at 1500 rpm to hold 58-60 mph. It seems like this will net better than average fuel economy, and a quiet, smooth driving experience on our rough Alaska roads!

Why Not the 2010 Nissan Murano?

Brand reputation & image

I think Nissan has an image of a small car company, and some of its offering (Cube,Juke) seem zany! There had also been bad press on how they had handled CVT issues until 2007. Nissan USA seems to have discouraged/disappointed too many valuable customers!

Warranty, maintenance cost

The warranty is either too shortfor this top end LE. Could include complimentary care for the 1st year. Back up your excellent CVT and 3.5 6 cylinder with a 4 year/50,000 mike warranty. I suppose I was spoiled by Audi USA,which included care for 4/50,000!
