May 201560000 miUS $50 | Still in progress of replacing repairing ECM even after replacing and confirming bad IPDM just months earlier with updated model (black)
Oct 201560000 miUS $158 | After two mechanics, one Nissan trained, could not pinpoint the problem, I educated myself with the electrical diagram. I fixed it, 99c fuse..for three weeks. Back to the drawing board. Either something in wiring or new computer draws too many amps.
Apr 201660200 miUS $6 | Just want to report that even though the truck has been out and running 3 weeks since Jan 2009, paint on the rear and front opposite side of the bed is bubbling up. Small spots have fallen off. Taking up dry garage space of 9 months. ????
May 201660300 mi | I finally got the truck running early May after reading the 800 pages of the service manual and still do not know what is wrong. Ran it daily and locally for two months. A few days ago I started it and it blew the fuse #53. 2 comps & 3 IPDMs
Sep 201661000 mi | Partially fixed the electrical problem that kept the truck from starting by cutting a wire that an expert thought might be the cause and straightening another in the harness. Found a melted section of wiring up under the muffler heat shield. Original muffler that had set in garage save 20 mi had an orange size hole in the bottom and a golf ball size hole in the top. While replacing the entire system back, found melted wiring after I insisted the remove the muffler heat shield. Replace the modulator for rear axle. Water was in the fluid even with only 20 mi since the truck was parked for 1yr and 1/2. The axle seal had been replaced when I purchased the truck with 59,000 miles, therefore the fluid had been replaced.
Apr 201763000 miUS $1200 | Spliced a crimped/bent/broken? factory wire that communicates to the computer. I was between the IPDM box and the firewall and required a very skilled individual with a video scope to discover and repair it. Other wiring over the muffler heat shield had melted, but is still functional. Will take quite a few splices and requires the bed to be taken off the truck to gain access.
Dec 201765121 mi | Truck went into Limp Mode once again. Spliced melted wiring over the rear of the muffler. Did not clear the problem. Also now stuck in flashing Low-4. Tried resetting ECM and got it into neutral once, but it would not finish the reset procedure and went back to 4-Low flashing. Still in forward only. Still in garage as of April 19th. Spent more time in a garage than on the road....
Aug 201865000 miUS $500 | Not completed yet, but this week even if we have to pull the trany. It locked into LOW 4Wh gear. Two shops could not diagnose the issue. I have made progress and believe we can see the problem and release it when replacing the screen and fluids. There should be nothing really wrong with the transmission otherwise. Since this may be the last update, I thought I should warn others of driving in LOW 4wh with too heavy a load on slick mud. At this point I have to install the controller to see if sanding what appeared to be a burnt speed sensor cover will allow the computer to read it properly or will have to replace the TCM and controller. Nothing else was visually affected. It somehow overheated which caused the vehicle to go into LIMP mode.
Sep 202165000 miUS $300 | Bought used TCM, pulled the controller (second time) and installed. Checked all solenoids (good). Mechanic visually checked transmission. (good) Controller appears good. The symptoms changed when resetting the TCM, but not drastically. Still no reverse, engages forward in neutral. Got rid of a couple of codes and manual shift works. Stays in Limp Mode. May try another TCM and/or controller next. |
