Reviewed: 2006 Nissan Xterra

4dr SUV 265-horsepower 4.0L V6 5-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range

Why the 2006 Nissan Xterra?

Exterior styling

The thing I like most is that it is not unibody, its truely body on frame. This truck looks very sporty as well and I like the curves designed. The raised roof with stadium seating is really cool as well. The rooftop cargo area is icing on the cake.

Ride smoothness

I was surprised by how smooth the ride was considering this is a truck designed for off-road. You have to remember that this is not a crossover vehicle that is a car first and truck second. It is a truck. If you want a crossover, buy a pathfinder.

Powertrain performance

Ton of power for a 6 cylinder. Much more than my jeep used to have.

Cargo capacity

There are many, many tie downs and the hard surface of the cargo are is easy to clean. The rooftop cargo area is very helpful and I like the first aid storage compartment as well. This vehicle tows my tent camper with ridiculous ease.

Brand reputation & image

This vehicle is truly made for off-road. It performs very well on rough terrain and in deep snow right from the factory.
