Introduction

My 2008 Saab 9-3 6M is near 200K miles, and has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I drive about 25K miles/year so having a reliable commuter car was critical. After owning Honda, Acura, VW, Audi, and Volvo, the Saab has proven to have the lowest repair cost per mile. I would highly recommend the 2008 Saab 9-3 to anyone looking for an affordable, low-cost repair vehicle, that comes loaded with features most won't even know exist (ie. impressive traction control for non-AWD vehicle).

2008 Saab 9-3 Love Letter

Even though the 2008 Saab 9-3 retains a close resemblance to the previous generation model, the styling is still impressive compared with cars on the road today. Saab was way ahead of it's time with styling and technology that car makers are just now adapting in current models.

Conclusion

Perhaps the one good thing about the 2008 Saab 9-3 is that is shares parts with other GM products making parts scarcity a none issue. Parts for my Saab are way cheaper then what I spent on my Volvo and VW, part of why the cost/mile factor is so low.

PROS:

1) Lowest Repair Cost Per Mile ($0.04/mile)
2) Excellent MPG (highest was 36.6 mpg)
3) Turbo and Cold Air Intake give this car impressive excelleration
4) Great suspension and handling that stick 9-3 to the road

CONS:

1) Electric window issue
2) Dot Matrix Audio System
3) Out of business :-(
