Reviewed: 2006 Saab 9-3

4dr Sedan turbocharged 250hp 2.8L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the 2006 Saab 9-3?

Powertrain performance

Able to pass anyone without shifting, all turbo power. Rpms dont have to go over 4k to gain high speeds. Handles extremly well in the snow.

Brand reputation & image

Great design inside and out. Reliability sems to be going up with Spyker. I purchased my 2006 with resaerch that the 2002 to 2004 were very troubled years. Bumper to bumper warranty better than BMW.

Fuel economy

Amazing fuel economy for such a powerful engine.

Exterior styling

Love the Aero sport package, wouldnt buy a SAAB without it. Car is sporty and sexy for a sedan.

Why Not the 2006 Saab 9-3?

Reliability & durability

Creeky interrior parts, I have picked my car apart before the warranty ended. Without that warranty I would have regreted buying the car.

Insurance cost

Insurance would be just as high on any other sports car that I drive. I purchased my car when it was 3 years old with 24k miles, purchased for 16k, car was 37k new.

Quietness

I found the leater touching plastic is where a lot of noise comes from. SAAB makes this excellent door panel and throws on a cheap creeking handel for the finish and fit.

Ride smoothness

Sport suspension is normally a little more stiff. Could be softer, I dont like how I can feel the entire road through the steering wheel.

Past personal experience

1st time Saab buyer
