Why the 2005 Subaru Baja?

Powertrain performance

Simple turbo system. Power is there right now when you need it. Plenty of power on tap. Smooth power and great AWD traction. Great on or off road.

Ride smoothness

Rides like a limo. Off road it just soaks up bumps allowing you to drive much faster in more comfort.

Materials & workmanship

Good fit and finish all around. Good materials. No squeaks or rattles.

Reliability & durability

Mile after mile and no issues. Off road and then commuting in traffic. Just turn the key and it is ready to roll.

Brand reputation & image

The great all round car. Subaru the environmental car company. Great to go to mountains or the beach in.

Why Not the 2005 Subaru Baja?

Exterior styling

It has love it or hate it styling. Designed by taking an Outback and lopping the rear end off and putting a pickup bed in place. Not the prettiest car in the lot.

Safety & braking

Safety is fine. But the brakes feel like they are never going to work. They feel iffy. Hit them and while the car slows the brakes do not bite or stop aggressively enough for my needs.

Front seat room

6 footers are going to have issues getting in and out. Also they will have to recline the seat too much just to keep their heads from hitting the roof.

Audio & nav systems

Very basic system even their top of the line. Not enough power, sound or features. No mp3 player ports. No fancy displays. No GPS. No DVD players etc.
